Dark Matter Coffee is seeking a part-time Brewing Assistant in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on cleaning, brewing and organization within the Cold Coffee Department.

Job description

Job Details: Job Location: Chicago, IL 60612, Salary Range: $17.05 - $17.05 Hourly, Brewing Assistant - Soft Parade

The Brewing Assistant is a part-time (24 hrs/wk) position whose primary responsibilities are cleaning, brewing, and organizing within the Cold Coffee Department of Dark Matter Coffee. There may be miscellaneous tasks involved with assisting other back-of-house departments. Ideal candidates would have interest or experience working in a kitchen/brewery environment.

The Brewing Assistant position is a part-time hourly position with a starting hourly rate of $17.05/hr.

Brewing

• Using brewing equipment in the approved format to produce coffee cold products
• Using proper equipment to pump and transfer brewed coffee to storage vessels
• Execute Daily pars for production of iced coffee (retail/canning/wholesale keg count plus backups)

Cleanliness

• Adhere to cleaning schedules and procedures
• Pooling liquid, stains or other unsightly messes must be cleaned throughout the day
• Regular cleaning of all kegs brewing & packaging equipment, brite tanks and our workspace
• Taking pH readings of cleaning chemical tanks every kegwashing run, as well as weekly draining and replenishing of tanks

Safety

• Works diligently to foster a safe work space for self and co-workers
• Adheres to SOPs
• Appropriate safety attire is worn (steel toe boots, goggles, back braces, etc)

Maintenance

• Changing wear parts on kegs
• Helping baristas troubleshoot draft issues
• Miscellaneous part replacement delegated by the Brewing Manager

Quality Control

• Alert QC manager when anomalies occur with products
• Daily interaction with the production log (entering batch data, recording allocated kegs and account information, etc.)
• Taking can seam measurements at the beginning of every canning run
