Job summary

Goodwill Houston is seeking a Soft Lines Merchandising Specialist to sort and prepare donated soft goods for the sales floor. You will hang and organize items by department and size, price merchandise, and ensure backroom processes are efficient and cost-effective to support the GWH mission.

The role requires attention to quality standards, ability to work with diverse teams, and commitment to safety. Previous retail merchandising experience is helpful.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English to understand safety instructions, SOPs, and workplace communications.
• Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with individuals with diverse personalities and communication styles.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Retail Sales Experience Is Preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for employment.

Responsibilities

• Sort soft goods donations (clothing, linens, etc.) according to GWH quality guidelines.
• Hang sellable items and organize by department, category, and size.
• Process donations in the backroom to prepare for the sales floor.
• Price soft goods merchandise according to pricing guidelines and apply price tags.
• Assist with unloading donations from donor vehicles and aid donors as needed.
• Maintain a clean and organized workstation before, during, and after shifts.
• Assist in product rotation and sales floor recovery to keep a Full, Fresh, and Friendly environment.
• Follow PPE and safety regulations and report incidents promptly.
• Perform housekeeping duties and ensure walkways are clear.
