Job summary

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a dedicated school-based counselor to support students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs within our educational programs. You will work closely with students, families, teachers, and administrators to develop and implement individualized support plans, conduct assessments, and connect students with needed services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in social work or related field with 1 year experience in health or human services.
  • Preferred to have or able to obtain one of the following: certified school counselor, licensed professional counselor, licensed social worker, licensed clinical social worker, or school psychologist.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with students, families, teachers, and administrators to create and support Individualized Education Plans and comprehensive support strategies.
  • Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and connect them with appropriate services and resources.
  • Facilitate communication between the school, families, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support.
  • Provide crisis intervention to address urgent mental health or safety concerns and support student well‑being.
  • Create and deliver workshops or training sessions for students, parents, and staff on relevant topics.
  • Advocate for students’ rights and mobilize resources to promote learning and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of student progress while promoting attendance and addressing challenges to student success.
  • Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information.
  • Completion of all required trainings as designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary

Provide comprehensive support to students by addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs through interventions, collaboration with stakeholders, and resource coordination to foster their academic and personal growth.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to address students' social, emotional, and behavioral needs, including brief, solution‑focused interventions.
  • Collaborate with students, families, teachers, and administrators to create and support Individualized Education Plans and comprehensive support strategies.
  • Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and connect them with appropriate services and resources.
  • Facilitate communication between the school, families, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support, including coordinating additional services and appointments.
  • Provide crisis intervention to address urgent mental health or safety concerns and support student well‑being.
  • Create and deliver workshops or training sessions for students, parents, and staff on relevant topics, including bullying and substance abuse prevention.
  • Advocate for students’ rights and mobilize school, family, and community resources to promote learning and engagement.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of student progress while promoting attendance and addressing challenges to student success.
  • Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality with regard to all company information.
  • Completion of all required trainings as designated by the company and accreditation/licensing entities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education, Licensure, & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in social work or related field with 1 year experience in health or human services

  • A working knowledge of federal and state standards as well as regulating body and compliance standards.
Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet & indoors. This position will require local travel. This position will be scheduled based on operational need & will be required to provide own transportation. Incumbent may be exposed to virus, disease, and/or infection from clients in the work environment. Incumbent may be exposed to traumatic situations (i.e. psychiatric).
