Job summary

Grand Island Central School District seeks a Social Worker – Short Term Substitute for the Middle School. Per diem $170 with increase after 40 days per collective bargaining agreement. January 4, 2027 to March 29, 2027, with anticipated start date January 4, 2027.

Requirements include NYS Certified School Social Worker and 1–3 years experience preferred, counseling experience, and ability to work with students, staff, and families to provide emotional support and develop interventions.

Qualifications

• NYS Certified School Social Worker with 1–3 years experience preferred.
• Experience in counseling and related coursework.
• Ability to work with peers and administrators and grow professionally.
• Ability to provide emotional support to children with behavioral, social and academic needs.
• Experience with assessments and developing/implementing therapeutic interventions.
• Knowledge of school social worker, school counselor and/or school psychologist practices.
• CPI or equivalent training preferred.

Duties:

Responsibilities as per District needs

Qualifications:

• 1. NYS Certified School Social Worker and 1-3 years experience preferred and/or school counselor
• 2. Possess appropriate counseling experience, specialized training/coursework
• 3. Demonstrated ability to work with peers and administrators; willingness to learn and grow in order to better meet the needs of students
• 4. Ability to provide emotional support to children with behavioral, social and academic needs
• 5. Perform assessments, develop and implement therapeutic interventions with children and families.
• 6. Knowledge of school social worker, school counselor and/or school psychologist practices
• 7. CPI or its equivalent training preferred
