Job Summary and Qualifications

This PRN position covers day shifts on weekdays and weekends, typically from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The Social Worker (MSW) conducts non-clinical biopsychosocial assessments and interventions for inpatient and outpatient emergency departments. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, patient/family support, high-risk screening, referrals, discharge planning, and responding to social work consults across various units including ICU, Trauma, Oncology, NICU, Transplant, and ED.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with healthcare team members to identify and address patient needs.
• Identify and resolve barriers to discharge and recovery, including financial, emotional, psychosocial, medical, and spiritual issues.
• Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and private payer regulations and managed-care concepts.
• Develop discharge plans for high-risk patients.
• Coordinate meetings between care teams, patients, and families to support decision-making.
• Provide emotional support during complex or emotionally charged situations, including end-of-life care and crisis intervention.

Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Social Work required.
• Current licensure as a Registered Master of Social Work in Texas.
• Social Work certification preferred.
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred.
• Minimum of 1+ years of medical social work experience.
