Summary:

To provide direct Social Work services to patients and families with acute or chronic medical conditions. The Social Worker offers ongoing supportive counseling aimed at maintaining the functional behavior of families. The social worker assesses families for needed assistance with resource procurement to support their efforts in caring for their child in either ambulatory or inpatient settings.

Education:

1. MSW or MSSW from an accredited school.
2. Previous experience in a hospital setting and working with children and families is preferred.

Certification/Licensure:

1. Current Texas License for LMSW.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers required within 30 days of employment and must be maintained per Medical Center Policy, MC 175.
