Job summary

Person County Department of Social Services seeks a Social Worker IAT – In-Home Services to join our Child Welfare team, delivering services to children and families to promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes. This is a non-exempt, full-time position working 37.5 hours weekly.

A valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required. Required training includes a Master’s degree in social work with one year of experience, or a Bachelor’s in social work with two years of experience,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or
• Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or
• Four-year degree in a human services field and three years of social work or counseling experience; or
• Four-year college degree with four years in rehab or related human services field; or
• equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide social work services in home-based settings for child welfare.
• Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety and stability.
• Advise and support families to achieve positive outcomes for children.

Education

MSW + 1 year experience

BSW + 2 years experience

Master's in counseling field + 2 years

4-year human services degree + 3 years

4-year college degree + 4 years rehab/counseling

Person County Department of Social Services is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Social Worker IAT – In-Home Services to join our Child Welfare team. The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.

This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.

Required Minimum Training:

• Master’s degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience;
• or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience;
• or Master’s degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience;
• or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience;
• or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization;
• or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative.

Additional Training/Experience:

Completion of Child Welfare Services Pre-Service training is preferred but must be completed prior to assignment of a caseload. Building Cultural Safety, Child Development and the Effects of Trauma, CPS Assessments in CWS, Intake for CWS, Introduction to the NC Practice Standards, Legal Aspects of CW, Medical Aspects of Child Abuse and Neglect for Non-Medical Professionals, and NC Practice Standards Worker Training Series (Assessing, Communicating, Engaging and Planning) must be completed within one year of hire.
