Job summary

MUSC Health seeks a VOCA MAP Social Worker (MSW) to provide direct support and interventions for patients and families dealing with abuse or neglect. The role includes education, counseling, safety planning, lethality assessment, and referrals to IPV/Elder Abuse agencies and other resources.

Under the MUSC Advocacy Program, you will communicate findings to MUSC clinicians and collaborate with the care team to ensure safety and appropriate referrals.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • MSW licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners.
  • Certification in case management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and interventions to patients and families when abuse or neglect is suspected or reported.
  • Offer education, counseling, safety plans and lethality assessments.
  • Make referrals to IPV/Elder Abuse agencies, safe houses, therapists, and legal aid services.
  • Communicate findings with MUSC clinicians.

Under guidance of the Coordinator, the VOCA Social worker provides direct support and interventions to patients and their families when there is a suspicion or report of abuse and/or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, intimate partner violence (IPV), and/or sexual abuse/assault. This role provides education, counseling, safety plans, lethality assessments and referrals to resources such as IPV/Elder Abuse agencies, safe houses, therapists, free or low cost legal aid agencies, DSS and law enforcement agencies. This position communicates findings with the appropriate MUSC clinicians.
