The Social Worker - Elder Advocate is responsible for investigating reports of abuse of the elder and coordinating appropriate protective service plans, crises support, and compliance with protective service mandates.
Receives and reviews intake reports regarding the abuse of elderly persons. Responds to emergencies when necessary with supervisory support. Completes thorough investigation of abuse allegations, risks to elders and elder's needs. Evaluates the functional capacity, situations, and resources of the abused elderly person, or assists in arranging for evaluations including competency evaluations if needed. Pursues legal counsel and/or advice to obtain necessary legal action such as protective orders and guardianship through the courts. Provides education to the community and other service providers on elder abuse mandates and issues. You will also conduct home visits as necessary. Participates in on-call for off hours and weekends.
