Spence-Chapin Services to Families and Children in New York City seeks a Social Worker for Birth Parent Services to guide options counseling, permanency planning, and the adoption process. This in-person role reports to the Associate Director and collaborates across departments to support birth families and infants.

The role involves psychosocial histories, hospital visits, and referrals; requires MSW and client-facing experience. Spanish language ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• MSW from an accredited school of social work or related degree.
• Minimum of two years MSW experience or direct client work in social services.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsabilités

• Provide options counseling to birth parents considering adoption.
• Visit clients in hospital and at home as needed.
• Discharge babies to interim care and coordinate with adoptive families.
• Write psychosocial histories and maintain case notes in the database.
• Perform outreach, education and training at hospitals and agencies served by expectant parents.
• Provide therapeutic counseling to individuals and families.
• Participate in weekly supervision and other department duties.
