Job summary

The Public Defender Commission seeks a Social Work Supervisor 1 based in Columbus, Ohio, supervising five Social Work Assistants across Trial Services Divisions. You will provide clinical and position supervision, partnering with attorneys and leadership to advance holistic defense and advocacy for clients in the criminal justice system.

Requires LISW license and at least 12 months of clinical supervision experience; strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

Requires current license as independent social worker (i.e., LISW) per Ohio board, plus 12 months of experience providing clinical supervision.
Experience supervising Social Work Assistants and working across multiple offices is preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Supervises five Social Work Assistants across Ohio Trial Services Divisions.
Provide clinical and position supervision; collaborate with attorneys and leadership teams.
Assist in complex cases and provide services to clients in pre-trial and post-conviction contexts.
Develop and implement processes and procedures with supervisors across disciplines.
Travel semi-regularly to build relationships with staff at different locations across Ohio.
