Job summary

Liberty University is seeking a Student Worker in the Department of Social Work to assist guests and perform clerical tasks. Duties include answering the phone, photocopying, stocking the break room, and helping Social Work professors.

This is a work-study, part-time on-site position with a starting wage of a Virginia minimum/market rate for student workers. Responsibilities include event planning, flyer design, and representing the program at recruitment events.

Qualifications

  • Previous office experience and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Outlook is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer the phone and assist guests at the department front desk.
  • Make photocopies and manage basic clerical tasks.
  • Stock and clean the staff break room and assist professors as needed.
  • Design flyers for events and promote events to students.
  • Represent the Social Work Program at recruitment events and share information.

Job description

The Student Worker in the Department of Social Work assists and welcomes guests to the department and performs a variety of basic clerical assignments. Duties include answering the phone, making photocopies, stocking and cleaning the staff’s break room, and assisting the Social Work professors. This position is a work-study position.Essential Functions and Responsibilities1. Work independently with minimal direction, and work in concert with others.2. Be tactful, courteous, and effective in dealing with others.3. Provide customer service and appropriate communication to those who come to the department with questions, for those who come for meetings with staff or faculty, and for those who call the front desk phone.4. Assist in planning and hosting department events.5. Design flyers for events and assist in advertising events to students.6. Be punctual, prepared, and available for work.7. Assume responsibility and ensure assigned tasks are satisfactorily completed.8. Exhibit ability to effectively convey information and ideas to others through clear and excellent oral and written communications.9. Have a positive temperament and professional demeanor.10. Appear professional in dress and in interactions with others.11. Have experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, & Excel).12. Have experience with file sharing in Dropbox.13. Represent the Social Work Program at recruitment events for potential students.14.
