Job summary

Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - Child Protective Services, Northern Iowa Service Area, seeks a Social Work Case Manager Specialist to support families in Waterloo, Mason City, Charles City or Fort Dodge. 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with paid overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include home visits, risk assessment, safety planning, and collaboration with courts and attorneys. The ideal candidate will have a degree in social work, relevant experience, and the ability to handle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work required
• Master's degree in social work preferred or related credentials
• Experience in social work within a public or private agency; knowledge of Iowa laws and codes

Responsibilities

• Assess ongoing risk to children and develop safety plans
• Conduct home visits with detailed interviews and documentation
• Coordinate with attorneys, courts, and partner agencies
• Maintain confidential information and ensure timely records
• Engage families respectfully to plan for safety and family preservation
