Job summary

University of Nevada, Reno is seeking an Academic Advisor 2 to support student success through advising, admissions, recruitment, retention initiatives, and student-centered programming. You will help undergraduates plan their courses, select majors, meet progression requirements, and prepare for admission to Social Work programs.

You will collaborate with faculty and campus partners, assist diverse student groups, and contribute to outreach and engagement activities that promote Social Work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and (2) two years of related work experience or a Master’s Degree and (1) one year of related work experience.
• Academic advising, teaching, student services, social work, or related.

Responsibilities

• Advise a diverse population of undergraduate Social Work students on academic planning, course selection, scheduling, and progression requirements.
• Assist with admission pathways, program requirements, and success in Social Work programs.
• Support pre-major Social Work students with BSW sequence applications and guidance.
• Develop targeted advising strategies to improve persistence, retention, and student success.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners on student success initiatives and outreach.
