Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Social Studies Coordinator in the Department of History. The position is at the rank of assistant professor specializing in history and social studies and will be a joint appointment with the Department of Educational Innovation and Technology. The successful candidate will work with the Department of History, Ammon College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, and School of Education to oversee the educator preparation program that leads to state certification in Secondary History and Social Studies (grades 4-12).

The History Department is currently composed of 13 faculty—5 US historians, 4 European historians, and 4 World (Africa, Asia, Middle East, and Latin America) historians and boasts approximately 200 history majors. Nearly two-thirds of our majors are social studies education majors. Our social studies education program is one of the most well-established and widely respected in Connecticut. The department has three other areas of strength: public history, game studies, and international education.

In accordance with the Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (AAUP) Collective Bargaining Union Contract, compensation for this position is at the rank of Assistant Professor for 2024-2025.
