Qualifications

• Associate degree in Human Services or related field is required.
• At least 1 year of experience in social services or related helping profession.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individuals and families to assess eligibility for programs.
• Assist with food pantry services, vouchers, clothing, furniture, and emergency aid.
• Oversee Day Shelter operations within the facility.
• Help clients complete applications and gather required documents.
• Coordinate rent and utility assistance with landlords and utility providers.
• Connect clients with community resources and partner agencies.
• Maintain confidential client records and compile service statistics/reports.
• Answer questions about available programs to clients and the community.
• Support seasonal and special community programs as needed.
• Assist with pantry inventory and distribution.

What You'll Do

As a Social Service Worker, you will:

• Meet with individuals and families seeking assistance and assess eligibility for available programs
• Provide assistance through food pantry services, vouchers, clothing, furniture, and emergency financial aid
• Provide oversight of the Day Shelter within the Facility
• Help clients complete applications and gather required documentation
• Coordinate rent and utility assistance with landlords and utility providers
• Connect clients with community resources and partner agencies
• Maintain accurate and confidential client recordsCompile service statistics and reports
• Answer questions from clients and community members regarding available programs and services
• Assist with seasonal and special community programs as needed
• Support food pantry operations, including inventory and distribution management

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Basic math and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with computers and data entry.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.
• Comfort using everyday office technology and software.
• Ability to perform light physical tasks, including occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work primarily in an office environment while moving about the workspace as needed.
