Job summary

The Salvation Army in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Social Services Assistant to interview clients and determine eligibility for food, clothing, and financial assistance. You will prepare accurate client records and refer clients to community agencies while maintaining strong working relationships with partner organizations.

Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred. The role supports service delivery in a standard office setting with some outdoor tasks and requires a valid Florida driver's license

Qualifications

• High school diploma or G.E.D AND Two years experience working in a social or public service environment with experience assisting the public
• Ability to read, write and communicate the English language and Spanish.

Schedule/Hours: 40This position is responsible for:Provides social service assistance to eligibles clients in the following areas: food, clothing, and financial assistance.Key Responsibilities:Interviews clients to determine need and eligibility to receive services.Prepares accurate and complete client records.Refers clients to community agencies an maintains effective working relationships with the same.Spanish Linguist Preferred.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying objects (up to 40 lbs.) 25-40% of work time. Majority of work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
