Description
This is a part-time, benefit-eligible position located in Red Oak, IA. The hours are Thursday/Friday 3pm-11pm, and every other weekend 9am-11pm. This position is eligible for a hire-on bonus.
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching, training, and assisting individuals in developing skills for independence in daily living activities.
- Coordinating health and medical needs and training individuals to manage their health.
- Developing or maintaining skills for community participation.
- Assisting with accessing community services and participating in community activities.
- Supporting advocacy efforts and preparing individualized diet plans.
- Writing Individualized Intervention Plans and providing emergency/safety skills training.
- Training in personal business management, budgeting, and providing transportation.
- Orienting new individuals, supervising goals, and documenting progress.
- Supervising finances, maintaining a supportive atmosphere, and ensuring safety and cleanliness in residences.
- Training new staff, following work schedules, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Monitoring dietary needs, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring safety from environmental hazards.
Essential Functions
- Providing quality care and transportation.
- Training in daily living skills and maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Willingness to work with individuals with behavioral problems, including aggression.
- Administering medication after training, exercising judgment, and completing documentation.
- Working independently, ensuring safety, and complying with HIPAA regulations.
- Managing access to Protected Health Information based on security clearance levels.
Qualifications/Requirements
- No serious infectious or communicable diseases.
- 18 years or older, high school diploma or GED.
- Preferred experience in teaching skills like cooking, cleaning, and hygiene.
- Valid Iowa Chauffeur’s license, successful completion of physical, TB test, drug screenings, and med-management class.
- Willingness to work with individuals with behavioral disorders and handle biological waste.
- Good communication skills, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team.
- No criminal convictions related to assault, abuse, or bodily injury.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel, enter/exist homes, walk stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform physical care duties.
