Social Services Supported Community Living Specialist

Join Nishna Productions, Inc. as a Social Services Supported Community Living Specialist in Red Oak, IA. This is a full-time position with hours Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.

Position Overview

The Supported Community Living Specialist (SCLS) reports directly to the Team Leader and the Director of Residential Services. This is a para-professional level role involving teaching, training, and assisting individuals to develop independence in daily living, community participation, and self-care skills.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and assist individuals with activities of daily living, health management, and community engagement.
  • Develop individualized plans, supervise goals, and document progress.
  • Provide training in personal care, budgeting, safety, and advocacy.
  • Assist with transportation, meal prep, housekeeping, and medication management.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with regulations.
  • Train new staff and participate in meetings and training sessions.
Essential Functions
  • Provide quality care and support to individuals.
  • Transport and assist with daily living activities.
  • Maintain documentation and adhere to confidentiality and regulatory standards.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, including working with individuals with behavioral challenges.
Qualifications
  • Must not have or be a carrier of serious infectious diseases.
  • Minimum 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in teaching life skills preferred.
  • Valid Iowa Chauffeur’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Successful completion of physical, TB test, drug screening, and med-management class.
  • Ability to work with behavioral individuals and perform physical tasks required for direct care.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 70 miles, perform physical care, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to assist with transfers, bathing, and household chores.
