Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services is seeking a full-time ESA Social Service Specialist 2 to join the Pierce North CSO in Tacoma. The role provides professional social services, conducts in-depth assessments, and develops employability plans for clients facing barriers to self-sufficiency.

The position requires handling complex caseloads, coordinating with multiple services, and supporting diverse populations in a high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
• Master’s degree or two years of paid social service experience required for SSS2 level.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.
• Employees must complete agency training within 18 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments for WorkFirst applicants and recipients to develop client-based plans.
• Develop IRPs in eJAS based on assessments.
• Refer clients to mental health, counseling, DV services, education, and job-search resources.
• Conduct home or alternate-site visits to assess clients unable to attend CSO.
• Complete Social Service Assessments for disability eligibility and support.
• Support clients with physical/mental health issues in relation to work-functioning.
