Job summary

The Orchards in Detroit, MI is seeking a Social Service Assistant to support residents across adult and geriatric populations, planning and coordinating social services programs. You will assess admission inquiries, evaluate needs, and help determine facility placement.

We value candidates with LTC experience and a relevant degree (BSW/MSW or related). At least one year in social work is required; preferred are prior social service roles in a large long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in a large LTC setting preferred.
• BSW or MSW preferred, or Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• At least one year experience in Social Work field required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific developmental factors in planning social services programs.
• Plans social services for residents with therapeutic, neurological, dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, and infectious disease needs.
• Follows up on admission inquiries and assesses prospective residents for facility placement.

Social Service Assistant

The Orchards is currently seeking a Social Service Assistant to join our team.

Social Service Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates knowledge of age specific developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents (i.e. physical, cognitive, and socialization factors) in planning social services programs

• Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and techniques necessary to plan social services programs for residents with the following needs: therapeutic, neurological and dementia, dialysis, IV therapy, and infectious diseases if applicable

• Promptly follows-up on admission inquiries, evaluates and assesses the needs of prospective residents to determine appropriateness of facility placement

Social Service Assistant Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience as a Social Service Assistant in a large LTC setting preferred

• BSW or MSW preferred, or Bachelors degree in related field

• At least one year experience in Social Work field required
