Job description

ATTN: The job announcement below pertains to social science analyst positions opening in 3 OEI regions at the GS-9 level. Open only to recent graduates (generally within the past 2 years). U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Inspector General, Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI) is seeking applicants to join our mission-driven, intellectually curious, and collaborative regional teams based in Atlanta, Chicago, and Baltimore. OEI conducts national evaluations of the policies, procedures, and operations of HHS programs to provide HHS, Congress, and the public with timely, useful, and reliable information on significant issues. These evaluations focus on preventing fraud, waste, and abuse; promoting quality, safety, and value; and advancing excellence and innovation in HHS programs such as Medicare and Medicaid and in HHS agencies such as CDC, NIH, and FDA. OEI evaluations include recommendations to HHS to improve program operations.

The selected candidates will work in teams in their regional offices to research program issues, develop data collection instruments, conduct interviews, compile and analyze data, and write reports. Current inspections cover a broad range of public health topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the opioid epidemic, Medicare drug spending, quality of care in Medicare and Medicaid, and data quality issues. OEI is committed to promoting health equity through our evaluations and recommendations and to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion among our staff.

This job announcement pertains to full-time telework-eligible vacancies at the GS-9 level in 3 different OEI regional offices: Atlanta, Chicago, and Baltimore. A bachelor’s degree in a behavioral or social science field, or 4 years equivalent experience, is required; a master’s degree or relevant experience conducting or presenting social science research or analyzing data is preferred. Apply at USAJOBS - Job Announcement beginning September 30, 2024. The job will close at 11:59pm on October 4, 2024 or on the date the job reaches or exceeds 250 applications, whichever comes first. We expect to reach the application limit quickly, possibly after the first day, so apply ASAP to ensure your application is considered!
