Job summary

NCI Affiliates is seeking a Social Recreation Instructor to support adults with disabilities in developing social, recreational, and daily living skills. You will provide skill-building instruction in clients' homes and in the community, using person-centered plans and adaptive strategies.

You will work part-time in California, helping clients gain independence and social integration, with emphasis on positive role-modeling, patience, and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Valid California driver's license and auto insurance required.
• Ability to pass a LiveScan background check through FBI/DOJ.
• Patience, compassion, and ability to be a positive role model for adults with disabilities.
• Flexibility and availability to work as scheduled.
• Basic computer and technology skills.

Responsibilities

• Encourage and instruct clients in developing self-advocacy and financial management skills.
• Support individuals in enhancing their social and community interaction abilities.
• Teach and promote appropriate leisure activities and effective use of free time.
• Provide training based on each individual's service plan to support acquisition and improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors.
• Deliver instruction and support in clients' homes and community settings; focus on skill development (no personal care).

Compensation

$23 per hour (part-time position)
