Job summary

NCI Affiliates in California is seeking a Life Skills Instructor to empower adults with disabilities by teaching independent living skills, budgeting, transportation, and community engagement in clients' homes or in community settings.

This flexible part-time role offers a supportive team, PSLF-eligible benefits, and opportunities for growth. A high school diploma, a California driver's license, and reliable transportation are required; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid California Driver’s License for at least 2 years.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Flexible schedule to meet program needs.
• Patience, compassion, and the ability to serve as a positive role model for adults with disabilities.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Teach independent living skills to individuals in their homes or within the community.
• Assist with daily living activities, such as budgeting and using public transportation.
• Support individuals in attending appointments and managing medication routines.
• Promote the development of social skills and positive community interactions.
• Encourage healthy leisure activities and effective use of free time.
• Guide and support clients in developing self-advocacy skills.
• Enhance clients’ financial management abilities and promote safety from exploitation.
• Facilitate the improvement of adaptive skills and behaviors for greater independence.

Compensation

$23 per hour to start
