The New School is seeking a part-time Social Media & Publicity Assistant for the Social Research Journal. You will draft copy and visuals, manage posting schedules, and track analytics across X, Bluesky, Instagram, and Facebook, with guidance from the managing editor.

This hybrid role offers mentorship in marketing, publicity, and journal production, while you gain practical experience in social media strategy and editorial coordination as a student at The New School.

Qualifications

• College-level coursework in social sciences and/or humanities and/or liberal arts.
• Experience in social media management across platforms (X and Instagram required).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

• Draft copy and create visuals for several social media posts a week (X, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook).
• Develop schedule and identify content for posts; schedule posts weekly via a scheduling platform.
• Research best practices and trends in content creation and communications for various platforms.
• Keep track, evaluate, and share social media analytics with the journal team.
• Participate in other publicity efforts (e.g., Mailchimp newsletters, paid advertising).
