Job summary

Big I NY is seeking a creative Social Media Marketing Specialist to grow its social presence. You will work with the Marketing Director to develop strategies, create engaging content, manage calendars, and use data to improve performance across channels.

The role involves collaborating with a hands-on marketing team, staying ahead of trends, and supporting events and campaigns to drive reach and engagement.

Qualifications

  • Degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing social media for a brand, organization, or agency, with demonstrated experience managing multiple platforms and channels simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of core social media platforms, their audiences, algorithms, engagement strategies, analytics, and best practices.
  • Strong creative, writing, and storytelling skills with experience creating engaging social graphics and content.
  • Hands-on experience filming, editing, and producing short-form social video content is a plus.
  • Experience with paid social, particularly Meta and/or LinkedIn, strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Social Media Strategy & Management: Develop and execute strategies across multiple social platforms, identifying audiences, goals, content approaches, and opportunities to grow reach and engagement.
  • Social Content Creation: Create compelling, platform-specific visual, video, and written content, including graphics, carousels, short-form video, photography, and copy.
  • Channel & Calendar Management: Manage multiple social channels and calendars simultaneously, ensuring content is timely, accurate, on-brand, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Analytics & Optimization: Track and report on social performance and KPIs and turn insights into recommendations that continually improve results.
  • Event Content Creation: Capture and create timely, engaging social content from industry events, virtual classes, and company-hosted activities.
  • Trends & Experimentation: Stay ahead of platform changes, emerging formats, and social trends, testing new ideas and applying best practices to keep our brands relevant and engaging.
  • Marketing Team Collaboration: Pitch in across the marketing team to bring ideas and campaigns to life - from creating marketing materials and updating website content to event setup and on-site support.

Requirements

  • Degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience managing social media for a brand, organization, or agency, with demonstrated experience managing multiple platforms and channels simultaneously. Examples of work required. Nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Deep understanding of core social media platforms, their audiences, algorithms, engagement strategies, analytics, and best practices. Experience with social scheduling and management tools.
  • Strong creative, writing, and storytelling skills with experience creating engaging social graphics and content. Proficiency with Canva & Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Hands-on experience filming, editing, and producing short-form social video content a plus.
  • Experience with paid social, particularly Meta and/or LinkedIn, strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple channels, projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Self-directed, curious, and collaborative, with the ability to identify opportunities, bring forward ideas, follow through, and continually look for ways to improve.
