Job summary

Rutgers University-Newark is seeking a part-time NCLC Communications Assistant to support marketing and outreach efforts for Newark’s college-going initiative. The role develops marketing products, evaluates social media traffic, and expands reach by connecting accounts and creating engaging content for multiple platforms.

You will work with the Communications Program Coordinator on website updates and help the Center meet monthly social media goals, while applying strong research and writing

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent.
• Up to two years experience in an administrative function with good communication.
• Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
• Experience using graphic design software to prepare marketing materials.
• Strong writing for a variety of audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop a marketing strategy for the Center and create marketing products such as flyers, newsletters, social media, and reports.
• Evaluate traffic on social media platforms and measure reach and engagement.
• Expand marketing reach by connecting accounts, identifying content, and creating unique posts.
• Meet monthly goals and metrics for impressions, likes, postings, and new followers.
• Lead and evaluate what resonates with the target audience and reposition content accordingly.
• Monitor social media algorithms and posting frequency to optimize impact.
• Curate content for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
• Collaborate with Communications Program Coordinator on maintaining and populating the NCLC Website.
