Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day admin needs of the Social Media team including tagging via Zoomph, GIF assets via GIPHY, and content from games and events.
  • Ideate, shoot and edit content for the PackOffCourt social media account.
  • Collaborate with Community Impact, Partnerships, and Social Media teams to identify storytelling opportunities.
  • Maintain a consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across PackOffCourt platforms.
  • Assist with maintaining PackOffCourt content calendars.
  • Attend Timberwolves games and events to capture social-first content.
  • Capture social-first photo and video content that is authentic and timely.

Position Summary/Objective

The Minnesota Timberwolves are seeking a Social Media Assistant to support the organization’s digital and community-focused social media efforts, with a primary focus on the PackOffCourt social media account. This role will sit that the intersection of community storytelling, social media operations, and digital content management. This will be a seasonal part-time position, to last through the regular NBA season and potential playoffs. Expected availability is for all home and away Timberwolves games (no travel required). Some office hours will be required.

What would you do?
  • Supporting the day-to-day administrative needs of the Social Media team – including social tagging through Zoomph, creating and maintaining GIF assets through GIPHY, and organizing and supporting digital content from games and team events
  • Ideate, shoot, and edit content for the PackOffCourt social media account
  • Collaborate with Community Impact, Partnerships, and Social Media teams to identify opportunities for storytelling
  • Help maintain a consistent voice, tone, and visual identity across PackOffCourt platforms
  • Assist with maintaining PackOffCourt content calendars
  • Serve as a key administrative support resource for the Social Media team
  • Tag and categorize social media content in Zoomph to support social listening, reporting, and analytics
  • Ensure posts are consistently and accurately tagged according to established team standards
  • Create, organize and upload Timberwolves-related GIFs to GIPHY, utilizing game footage and other team approved content.
  • Identify moments from games and team content that have potential to become GIFs
  • Maintain an organized library of GIFs and digital assets for use across social platforms
  • Assists with other administrative and operational tasks that support the Social Media team
  • Attend Timberwolves games, community events, partnership activations and other organizational events based on content needs or requests
  • Capture social-first photo and video content that supports PackOffCourt and is authentic, timely and engaging.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other
  • 1-2 years of experience in social media, digital media, sports, entertainment, marketing, or a related field
  • Photography and/or videography skills are preffered
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Computer skills required: experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) is required
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms
  • Ability to manage repetitive administrative responsibilities accurately and consistently
  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work well on a team and independently.
  • Ability to manage specific processes and tasks in the department under supervision.
Compensation And Benefits
  • This is an hourly position paid on a semi-monthly cycle at a rate of $17.00 per hour.

This position does not have a supervisory responsibility.

Travel:

Position does not require travel.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment. Game night shifts are usually 4 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Staff may be asked to work external events including but not limited to: player or community appearances, or charity and networking events. Work is generally sedentary in nature. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. This job also operates in a sports arena, which includes bleachers/steps.

Physical Demands

Work is generally sedentary in nature. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee frequently is required to remain in a stationary position, as well as operate computers and other office equipment. Staff will occasionally ascend and descend bleachers/steps and traverse around the arena both on event days and non-event days. Staff will frequently move boxes of merchandise and equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
