Job description

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Social Media and Content Manager is a key contributor to the school’s overall marketing and communications strategy. This role is a blend of strategic storytelling and high-level production skills.

Working closely with the Assistant Director of Communications, the Social Media and Content Manager will ideate, write, photograph, film, and edit compelling content for key communications channels, advancing the school’s reputation and ensuring our digital presence directly aligns with institutional goals. As the primary visual storyteller on campus, this role manages the end-to-end production of assets that connect the AIS community and external audiences to our mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, write, capture, and produce high-quality daily content for AIS’s primary and secondary accounts, including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Vimeo. Ability to capture dynamic, professional-grade photography and video across campus activities.

  • Script, film, and edit short-form and mid-form video content optimized for specific platforms (with a heavy emphasis on Instagram Reels and video storytelling).

  • Perform professional editing, color grading, and organization of photo/video assets. Maintain and manage the Canto cloud-based asset library to ensure the school’s historical and current media is organized.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on social media metrics to ensure content is actively moving the needle on school goals. Establish clear workflows, production timelines, and communication structures that allow the team to move swiftly without sacrificing quality. Analyze performance and report on progress against KPIs. Identify key insights and develop recommendations for ongoing optimization.

  • Proactively manage a school-wide digital calendar using tools like Google Apps, Asana, and Canva.

  • Maintain a high-energy, proactive presence in classrooms, assemblies, field trips, and events.

  • Serve as the primary creator or visual coordinator for major campus milestones, managing solo shoots (First Day of School, Holiday Assembly) as well as multi-photographer logistics for community events (AIS/EA Day).

  • Act in a support role for routine website updates on agnesirwin.org, as well as our internal site (AIS-ON).

The Ideal Candidate
  • Possesses the unique combination of a sharp communications mind (knowing what story to tell) and the technical ability (knowing how to shoot and edit it).

  • Responsive to the seasonal rushes of a school cadence and has the stamina and organizational skills to stay ahead of the curve.

  • Embraces the AIS mission to empower girls and commits to our DEIB Philosophy.

  • Comfortably navigates moving between all three academic divisions and athletic departments and builds trust with administrators, faculty, and students.

  • Embraces the Agnes Irwin School’s mission to empower each girl to learn, lead, and live a legacy, and is committed to the ethos of girls’ education.

  • Will immerse themselves in the life of the school and share their talents as a coach, advisor, chaperone, or club leader

  • Commits to continued development of cultural competency and necessary skills to engage with and learn from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Demonstrates a dedication to continuous growth and development in areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and commits to our DEIB Philosophy at Agnes Irwin.

  • Is willing to engage across difference with empathy and understanding

  • Regards collaboration as an essential component of professional growth and values working on a team. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and demonstrates respect for different values and viewpoints

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, film/photography, or a related field, with 2-4 years of professional content creation experience (experience in an educational or boutique brand setting preferred).

  • Proven proficiency with DSLR cameras, lighting, and audio equipment, alongside advanced editing experience in the Adobe Creative Suite (Lightroom, Premiere, Photoshop) and mobile apps (CapCut, Canva).

  • Applicants must provide a portfolio or link to past work demonstrating a mix of professional photography, short-form video production (Reels), examples of social media posts, and brand copywriting.

  • Must be available to work on campus daily during regular school hours (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) with occasional evening, or weekend events
