Job summary

Harrison School District 2 in Colorado Springs is seeking a Social Emotional Wellness Specialist (SEWS) to support students with social-emotional, behavioral and health needs under supervision of special education staff and with school nurses and social workers.

The SEWS will teach self-control, SEL, restorative practices, and problem-solving to reinforce safer, healthier student development and collaboration with families and community services.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience working with school-aged students.
• Academic experience in Mental Health, crisis management, and or family systems of support.
• Oral communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic math, writing, and academic skills.
• Ability to work with students with various backgrounds and abilities.
• Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral intervention to students per IEPs to monitor safety.
• Lead activities to promote physical, mental, and social development.
• Monitor and redirect negative behavior.
• Check in with students during lunch and unstructured times.
• Serve as liaison between the school and community agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
