Job summary

Wave Hill seeks a dynamic Social and Digital Media Manager to lead storytelling across social, website, email, and newsletters. You will craft platform‑specific narratives, manage a fast‑paced content calendar, and collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to amplify the organization’s voice.

You will own audience engagement, affiliate partnerships, and the production of photos/videos while ensuring brand consistency and performance analysis across channels.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in social media, digital storytelling, or content marketing.
  • Proven ability to craft narratives across formats and platforms.
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a dynamic, story-driven Social and Digital Media Manager to lead the discovery, development, and distribution of compelling narratives that bring our mission and community to life. This role is ideal for a creative communicator who thrives on finding the human, visual, and emotional threads that connect audiences to our work across social media, our website, email, and newsletters.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hands‑on content creator who can identify stories across departments and translate them into engaging, platform‑appropriate content. This role requires an understanding of digital storytelling, audience engagement, and the evolving media landscape. You’ll collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and other internal stakeholders to shape and share our voice across channels. The department works at a fast pace and very collaboratively, an environment that will suit a strong team player who wants to own significant responsibility for communication channels that are ever‑growing in importance.

Key Responsibilities
Story Discovery & Development
  • Proactively identify and pitch story ideas from across the organization including programs, staff, visitors, and the landscape itself
  • Conduct interviews, gather assets, and craft narratives that resonate with diverse audiences
  • Maintain a content calendar that reflects seasonal, strategic, and mission‑aligned storytelling opportunities
Content Creation & Channel Management
  • Create original, high‑quality content (written, visual, and video) tailored to each platform
  • Manage and grow our presence on social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube
  • Collaborate on the development of print and digital materials, ensuring consistency in voice and visual identity
Audience, Influencer & Partner Engagement
  • Communicate with social media followers, including timely responses to queries
  • Improve customer engagement and promote social media campaigns, including advertising
  • Cultivate relationships with influencers, content collaborators, and partner organizations to amplify our reach and impact
Photography & Video
  • Capture and edit photos and videos that support storytelling across platforms
  • Manage external photographers and videographers as needed, including scheduling and creative direction
Website & Email Marketing
  • Maintain and update website content, including program highlights, seasonal updates, and new storytelling features
  • Oversee the email marketing calendar, crafting engaging campaigns and analyzing performance to optimize future outreach
Analytics & Strategy
  • Responsible for analyzing performance metrics and reporting on digital channels using tools like Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and email marketing platforms to optimize content delivery and audience engagement
  • Work with the Director to develop and implement strategic content plans aligned with organizational goals, using insights from audience behavior, campaign performance, and industry trends to guide decision‑making
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in social media, digital storytelling, or content marketing
  • Proven ability to craft compelling narratives across multiple formats and platforms
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
  • Metrics‑driven social media mind with eye for creativity
  • Experience with content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video editing software)
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms, email marketing tools, and social media analytics
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment
  • Flexible schedule with availability for occasional evening and weekend events
Salary And Benefits

The salary range is $65,000 to $70,000 plus benefits including: medical, dental, vision insurance; paid time off; 401k, pension plan and life insurance, Hybrid work available after 4 weeks of employment.
