Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a SoC Physical Design Engineer - Power Delivery to join a high‑visibility team responsible for partition place and route from netlist to tapeout with automation tasks.

You will collaborate across CAD, Physical Verification, Electrical Analysis and PnR groups to deliver robust, low‑voltage power grids. The role requires a BS plus 3+ years in physical design, scripting in TCL/Python, and experience with netlist-to-GDS flows, voltage drop analysis, and STA/LP verification.

Qualifications

• BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with block-level Physical Design Implementation (Netlist to GDS).
• Proficiency in TCL or Python scripting for automation.
• Understanding of PNR tools, voltage drop analysis, and STA.
• Experience collaborating with CAD/Physical Verification/Electrical analysis teams.

Responsibilities

• Automate PD flows and block execution to streamline tapeout.
• Partner with CAD/Physical Verification and Electrical teams to maintain power grid integrity.
• Develop and implement features and methodologies for diverse SOC partitions.
• Resolve design and flow issues and drive execution to meet tapeout schedules.

In this highly visible role, you will work with a team environment responsible completing partition place and route from netlist to tapeout including automation tasks for Apple SOC!

Description

• Experience with automation for Physical Design, for block execution and experience in automation using tcl and/or python.
• Work multi-functionally with CAD/Physical Verification/Electrical analysis and PnrR Teams to ensure strong and drc clean power grid.
• Develop features and methodology solutions to be used by wide range of SOC partitions.
• Collaborate with technology teams for node evaluations, global PD engineers, and physical verification and electrical analysis teams.
• Resolve design and flow issues related to physical design, identify potential solutions, and drive execution.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum BS and 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with block level Physical Design Implementation (Netlist to GDS).
• Scripting skills, ability to write maintainable and reusable scripts/programs of medium complexity in suitable languages (TCL/Python)
• Understanding of industry standard tools for PNR, Voltage Drop Analysis, STA & Layout Verification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiar with automation for Physical Design, block level execution.
• Experience of cross-functional collaboration with CAD/Physical Verification/Electrical analysis and PNR Teams to ensure electrically robust power grid.
• Experience with latest technology nodes tapeout is a plus.
