Job summary

Apex Systems, LLC is seeking a motivated SOC Analyst Level I for our Herndon, VA on-site team. You will monitor, triage, and respond to security events in a 24x7 SOC environment, using Splunk SIEM and ServiceNow for incident logging and tracking.

You will help with basic threat research, incident remediation, and coordination with engineering and threat hunting to strengthen security controls. This role provides growth in cybersecurity operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Familiarity with SOC operations and incident response lifecycle.
• Experience with SIEM and log analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security events and alerts using Splunk SIEM to identify activity across network, endpoint, and cloud environments.
• Perform initial triage and investigation of alerts following defined procedures to determine severity and actions.
• Respond to security incidents in accordance with SLAs, ensuring timely escalation and proper handling.
• Use ServiceNow to log, track, and document incidents through lifecycle.
• Conduct basic threat research to stay informed on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and attacker techniques.
• Support incident analysis by identifying contributing factors and remediation recommendations.
• Collaborate with security engineering and threat hunting to resolve incidents and strengthen controls.
• Follow SOPs and playbooks to ensure consistent incident response.
