Phoenix House California is seeking a Sobering Center Recovery Specialist to provide non-clinical support and promote a safe, recovery-oriented environment for individuals experiencing effects of substance use. You will work on a multidisciplinary team and help connect clients to treatment, housing, medical care, and community resources.

Your role includes monitoring client condition, documenting observations every 15 minutes, and escalating concerns to clinical staff when needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be registered or certified as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor recognized by DHCS.
• Six months of related experience preferred.
• Validity of credential must be maintained during employment.
• TB test clearance required with annual updates.

Responsabilités

• Greet and orient clients to the Sobering Center in a respectful manner.
• Maintain professional boundaries while building rapport with clients.
• Provide non-clinical emotional and practical support during stay.
• Assist clients with access to showers, laundry, and program amenities.
• Document client observations at least every 15 minutes and report changes.
• Recognize changes in condition and communicate to supervisor or clinical staff.
• Assist with transportation or discharge arrangements per policy.
• Use de-escalation techniques for challenging behavior and complete incident reports.
• Ensure compliance with Phoenix House policies and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in shift handoffs and team meetings; attend required trainings.
