Job summary

Alterra Mountain Company at Stratton is seeking Snowmakers for full-time seasonal roles. You will operate snowmaking equipment outdoors in all weather, with shifts that may be overnight. The starting wage is $23.00/hr, with higher wages based on experience.

Recruitment for this role will be ongoing through December. Candidates must have a High School Diploma, be 18+, and able to lift 70 pounds. A valid driver’s license and willingness to work flexible hours are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old and have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work outdoors in all winter conditions and lift up to 70 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license and flexible schedule including overnight shifts.

Responsibilities

• Pre-season preparation including brush cutting and pipeline setup.
• Safely operate snowmaking equipment to produce quality snow.
• Complete maintenance on snowmaking gear.
• Maintain a clean work area and work with minimal supervision.
• Assist other departments and fill in as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Extra duties as required.

POSITION SUMMARY

Snowmakers are responsible for safely and efficiently operating snowmaking equipment. Snowmakers must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions. Snowmaking is a physically demanding job. Snow is expected to be made whenever temperatures allow, many snowmaking shiftswill occur overnight. Full-time seasonal positions available. The starting wage for this position is $23.00/hr, higher wages based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Pre-season preparation (brush cutting, snow gun and pipeline installation and snow gun setup)
• Safe and efficient operation of snowmaking equipment to produce the quality snow that Stratton guests expect
• Complete maintenance on snowmaking equipment
• Maintain a clean work environment
• Work with minimal supervision
• Assist other departments and fill in as needed
• Follow all company safety policies
• Additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
• Must be 18+ years of age
• Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
• Ability to work in all winter conditions, including snow, rain, wind, ice
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include 12 hour &/or overnight shifts
• Previous snowmaking experience, preferred
• Previous experience operating snowmobiles, preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
