Job summary

Dartmouth College’s Dartmouth Skiway is seeking a Snowmaker to operate and help maintain snowmaking systems and perform a wide variety of tasks essential to the safe and efficient production of quality snow.

The position is a 4-month term role within the Mountain Operations team. Candidates should be able to lift 75 pounds, work in cold environments, and communicate effectively. Prior outdoor experience is preferred, and a high school diploma is recommended.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge/understanding of large machinery.
• Good communications skills and patience.
• Ability to create quality snow and snow surface.
• Ability to follow direction and work in a cold environment.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds regularly.
• Passion for snow sports.

Responsibilities

• Operate snowmaking equipment in a mountain environment in inclement weather.
• Inspect guns, hose, hydrants, and equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Assists in maintenance duties related to snowmaking and mountain operations systems including but not limited to parking lots, timbering operations, and building maintenance.
• Assists mountain operations with snow and ice mitigation including shoveling, sanding, and salting on premises.
• Follows all policies and procedures of the Dartmouth Skiway.
• Demonstrates professionalism and collegiality through actions, interactions, and communications with others appropriate to an environment that is welcoming to all.

Job description

To operate and help maintain snowmaking systems while performing a wide variety of tasks essential to the safe and efficient production of quality snow. Snowmakers are an integral part of the Mountain Operations team contributing to the success of the Dartmouth Skiway in numerous capacities.
