Job summary

Alyeska Resort is seeking Snowmaker 1 or Snowmaker 2 professionals to operate and maintain artificial snowmaking equipment on ski trails in Girdwood, Alaska. You will set up, relocate, and adjust guns for optimal coverage, while ensuring safety around snow cats, hoses, and machines.

Starting wage is $18 per hour based on experience, with employee housing options and a range of benefits. You should be able to work long shifts, adapt to extreme conditions, and collaborate with a dynamic resort

Qualifications

• Ability to work in variable weather conditions and adapt to changing environments.
• Willingness to work a highly flexible schedule (snowmaking begins when temps drop).
• Willingness to work long shifts (up to 12 hours).
• Reliability and accessibility via telephone for on-call duty.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Prior experience preferred (Snowmaker 2+).
• Strong customer service skills with good verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency in skiing or snowboarding on ungroomed surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain snowmaking equipment with precision for optimal snow quality.
• Set up, relocate, and dismantle snowmaking equipment across the mountain.
• Adjust snow guns to achieve peak performance under varying temperatures.
• Remove ice buildup on snow machines and hoses.
• Maintain safety protocols and ensure a secure environment for staff and guests.
• Safely operate and maintain snow cats, snowmobiles, and hoses.
• Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Fill propane bottles as needed.
• Collaborate with fellow snowmakers and resort staff to meet goals.

We’re looking for Snowmaker 1 or Snowmaker 2 professionals to join our team in Girdwood, Alaska. Your primary tasks will include setting up andrelocatingequipment, adjusting snow guns foroptimalperformance, and ensuring safe operations around snow cats, snow machines, and hoses. Your responsibilities will include:

• Operate andmaintainsnowmaking equipment with precision, ensuringoptimalsnow quality and coverage.

What We Need

• Ability to accommodate an extremely flexible work schedule (Snowmaking begins when temperatures drop below freezing, requiring availability at all hours).
• Willingness to work long shifts (up to 12 hours).
• Reliability and accessibility via telephone for on-call duty.
• Capability to work well under pressure.
• Prior experience preferred (requiredfor Snowmaker 2 or above).
• Strong customer service skills with good verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiencyin skiing or snowboarding on ungroomed surfaces.

What to Expect

• Be on alert and at times, on your feet forlong periods, including nights, weekends, & holidays.
• Work in a fast-paced, high-energy resort environment.
• Adapt to seasonal changes around the resort andspecial events.
• Physical demands: Ability to lift up-to 75 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, push or pull heavy equipment and stand for extended periods of time. Physical demands include operating heavy machinery, lifting equipment, and working in physically demanding environments. Manual dexterity and a firm grasp for using tools and equipment.
• Work Environment: This role involves extended hours, nights, and weekends to accommodate peak business periods. Shifts may include overnight work, as snowmaking often occurs during off-peak hours. Working in various weather conditions isrequired. Work is performed outdoors in cold, snowy, and often challenging weather conditions. May require working at heights or on steep terrain.
