Job summary

Dow Jones in New York is seeking a Staff Engineer to own the Snowflake platform end-to-end, including accounts, warehouses, RBAC, and DevOps. You will drive security, cost optimization, and reliability while enabling AI-enabled workflows for Cortex and other features across many teams.

You will mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and shape the data platform's standards and practices. This is an individual-contributor leadership role at enterprise scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering, platform engineering, or infra roles at enterprise scale.
• AI leadership and ability to deploy at scale on a data platform.
• Hands-on Snowflake administration, RBAC, security posture, cost, performance.
• Strong Terraform experience with Snowflake provider and CI/CD for data infra.
• Designed/operated data platforms serving multiple teams/business units.

Responsibilities

• Own Snowflake footprint: accounts, warehouses, roles, databases, operating model.
• Design RBAC, data masking, policies; data classification for units.
• Maintain Snowflake DevOps: Terraform, CI/CD, automated testing, change management.
• Enforce security, networking, private connectivity, SSO, SCIM, secrets management.
• Optimize cost and performance: monitors, warehouse sizing, FinOps reporting.
• Design for reliability: replication, failover, DR, incident response, observability.
• Lead architecture reviews for major Snowflake initiatives.
• Mentor engineers across levels; participate in reviews and docs.
• Hunt tech debt; diagnose incidents; root-cause analysis; incident leadership.
• Communicate across engineers, product, security, executives via docs and talks.
