Job summary

Praxis Precision Medicines is expanding its engineering team to own the reliability, governance, security, and cost transparency of our Snowflake environment. You will solve production issues, automate recurring work, and build monitoring and recovery capabilities to empower the business with reliable data platforms.

The Senior Snowflake Platform Engineer will collaborate with Data Engineering, Security, Identity, AWS, and commercial teams to ensure data is available, protected, and ready.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience with data platforms/cloud/data engineering or equivalent, with hands-on Snowflake production operations.
• Strong SQL and Python skills, including automating operational work and diagnosing complex production failures.
• Deep practical knowledge of Snowflake security/operations: roles, grants, ownership, warehouses, tasks, stored procedures, telemetry.
• Experience managing enterprise identities and least-privilege access in partnership with Identity/Security teams.
• Ability to understand platform consumption and optimize workloads balancing cost/performance.
• Experience with Git-based development, testing, releases, monitoring, incident response, and recovery procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own Snowflake platform operations across development, test, and production environments.
• Strengthen security and governance with role-based access, grants, and lifecycle controls.
• Drive reliability by root-cause analysis, durable solutions, and monitoring/alerts.
• Build production support practices with runbooks, escalation paths, and rollback procedures.
• Manage Snowflake consumption: visibility, forecasts, thresholds, and high-cost workload optimization.
• Automate change management with version control, testing, and controlled promotion.
• Report on reliability, access hygiene, consumption, and risks; drive documentation and automation.
