Job summary

The Illinois Department of Transportation is hiring temporary Snow Removal Operators for the 2026/2027 season. Positions are on-call, part-time, and located in District 3 (Watseka HQ) with multiple team sites across Illinois. Operators will drive CDL vehicles, assist in snow/ice control, and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Requires four years of high school education or equivalent.
• Possession of a Class B CDL with endorsements (X or N) and no airbrake restrictions, for two years; third year requires Class A CDL.

Responsibilities

• Operates CDL Class A or B vehicles.
• Assists in emergency snow and ice control.
• Servicing, washing, and minor repairs of equipment (trucks, snowplows, salt spreaders, etc.).
• Performs routine housekeeping of headquarters grounds.
• Performs other duties within scope as required.
