Virginia Department of Transportation seeks personnel to perform stand‑by duties for call‑in work during storms and snow removal operations. You will assist in clearing roadways, applying abrasives and chemicals, and performing debris removal in demanding outdoor conditions.

Responsibilities include operating loaders, backhoes, skid steers, and tractors, following oral and written instructions, and conducting preventative maintenance on equipment used in inclement weather.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on diverse equipment.
• Ability to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
• Safety shoes required.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsabilités

• Assist and support emergency operations for clearing snow and ice.
• Install tire chains, plow blades, and perform debris removal.
• Perform duties, tasks, activities and/or projects as assigned.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment used during inclement weather.
