Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking personnel to stand-by for call-in work to support storm preparation and snow removal. Responsibilities include assisting with emergency operations, performing heavy manual labor, and maintaining equipment used during inclement weather.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Safety shoes required for duties.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Operations: assist and support snow/ice clearing, apply abrasives and chemicals.
• Manual Labor: perform heavy tasks such as installing chains, plows and debris removal.
• Perform duties and tasks as assigned during emergencies or weather events.
• Preventative Maintenance: maintain equipment used during inclement weather.
