Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking an SMT Operator to support flexible, high-mix electronics assembly for defense programs. You will set up screen printers, Pick & Place, and reflow ovens, then load components and feeders, perform simple changeovers, and verify BOM and drawings for accurate builds.

You will work with the SMT process engineer, maintain tool readiness, and ensure compliance and safety. Overtime may be required to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing or assembly environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Contract manufacturing experience is a plus and training is provided.
• Experience with SMT components and package knowledge.
• Experience operating Tape and Reel machines and feeder loading.
• Good understanding of BOM and Assembly Drawings.
• Fluent with SMT package sizes and component identification.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and follow PPE/safety procedures.
• Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines: screen printer, Pick & Place, and reflow oven.
• Load and unload materials to and from machines independently.
• Set up feeders to machines per setup instructions.
• Perform simple machine changeovers.
• Identify basic SMT components.
• Set up SMT parts to correct feeder.
• Ensure all process tools, stencils or fixtures are in house before starting setup.
• Alert supervision and maintenance about equipment repairs.
• Ensure assembled product meets compliance standards.
• Work closely with SMT process engineer.
