Job summary

Rocket EMS, Inc. seeks an experienced SMT Lead to provide hands-on leadership for the SMT production team in Carson City, NV.

You will oversee setup, operation, troubleshooting, and training to ensure PCB assemblies meet IPC‑A‑610 Class 2 and 3 workmanship standards, while collaborating with Production Supervision, Engineering, Quality, and Materials. You will coordinate daily line activities, resolve issues, implement process improvements, and ensure on‑time delivery.

Qualifications

• SMT production experience required.
• Lead, train and coach SMT operators.
• Experience setting up and troubleshooting SMT equipment.
• IPC-A-610 familiarity preferred.
• Experience with Fuji/Panasonic/Juki equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily SMT work assignments with the Production Supervisor.
• Lead, train, and coach SMT operators on equipment operation and procedures.
• Review build documentation to ensure current approved documentation is used.
• Operate and changeover screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place, and reflow ovens.
• Verify feeder setups, polarity, orientation, and loadouts against approved docs.
• Load and verify machine programs and conduct first‑article checks.
• Coordinate with Materials and Engineering to resolve shortages and issues.
• Monitor line performance and troubleshoot defects and stoppages.
• Review inspection results with Quality to support corrective actions.
• Ensure routine maintenance and ESD, MSD, and material traceability compliance.
• Maintain accurate production records and clear shift pass‑downs.
• Lead 5S and continuous improvement to reduce changeover time.
