Job summary

Rocket EMS, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA, is seeking an SMT Lead to coordinate daily SMT production activities, provide hands-on equipment support, and direct operators to maintain quality and throughput.

You will work with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Materials teams, support schedules, resolve issues, and drive consistent performance in a high-reliability PCBA environment. ITAR/EAR compliance may apply.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SMT production experience with equipment setup, operation, changeovers, and basic troubleshooting.
• Read and follow assembly drawings, BOMs, travelers, and detailed work instructions.
• IPC workmanship requirements familiarity; IPC-A-610 training preferred.
• Ability to train and coach operators; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily SMT line activities and operator assignments.
• Set up, operate, and support SMT equipment.
• Lead line setups and verify materials and programs.
• Ensure first-piece inspections before production.
• Train operators on equipment operation and MPIs.
• Monitor production output, downtime, defects, and corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot equipment, coordinate with Eng/Maintenance/QA.
• Maintain process compliance and travelers.
• Maintain production records and shift pass-downs.
• Identify improvements to reduce setup time and defects.
