Job summary

Rocket EMS in Carson City, NV is seeking an SMT Lead to provide hands-on leadership for the surface-mount technology production team, coordinating daily activities to meet quality, productivity, and delivery goals. You will oversee equipment setup, operation, troubleshooting, and training of operators, ensuring PCB assemblies meet IPC-A-610 Class 2 and 3 workmanship standards.

The role requires collaborating with Production Supervision, Engineering, Quality, and Materials to keep production

Qualifications

Experience leading an SMT production line in electronics manufacturing.
Ability to train operators on equipment operation and procedures.
Knowledge of IPC-A-610 Class 2 and 3 workmanship standards.

Responsibilities

Coordinate SMT work assignments and line priorities with Production Supervisor.
Lead, train, and coach SMT operators on equipment operation and procedures.
Review documentation (MPIs, ECOs, BOMs) to ensure current build docs are used.
Oversee setup, operation, and changeovers for screen printers, SPI, pick-and-place, and reflow ovens.
Verify feeder setups and loadouts against approved docs.
Load and verify machine programs and coordinate first-article checks before release.
Resolve kit shortages and program issues with Materials/Engineering.
Monitor line performance and troubleshoot defects and stoppages; escalate as needed.
