Job summary

GE Aerospace in Clearwater, FL (supporting Grand Rapids, MI) seeks an SMS Lead to develop, implement, and sustain the Safety Management System across avionics sites.

You will partner with Plant Leadership, Quality Operations, and Product Safety to drive risk identification and mitigation, ensure regulatory compliance, and strengthen the SMS within the QMS/BMS. This role emphasizes proactive-to-predictive risk management and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Minimum 3 years in manufacturing quality with SMS experience.
• Ability to lead audits and manage change in a regulated environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead SMS implementation, training, and maintenance aligned with Enterprise SMS.
• Facilitate risk identification, analysis, and mitigation with SAT/SRBs.
• Prepare and submit product safety performance reports to leadership and SMS teams.
• Monitor site-level compliance with Enterprise SMS policies and conduct audits.
• Support Change Management initiatives within product safety risk management.
• Provide SMS training and promote product safety awareness across Avionics employees.
• Coordinate communication and collaboration across GE sites to align SMS objectives.
• Track safety metrics and drive continuous improvement through SRM.
