Job summary

Google seeks a software engineer to design and optimize host-networking stacks and distributed systems at scale. You will work on projects critical to Google’s needs, with opportunities to switch teams as the company grows.

The NetInfra group builds efficient data center networks and end-host networking stacks, redefining host networking for the next decade. This role focuses on networking, systems programming, and scalable software development for Google Cloud.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software development experience in C or C++.
• 3 years of AI/ML networking solutions and host-networking stacks.
• 3 years of experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, networks, compute/storage/hardware.
• 3 years of experience with embedded operating systems.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.
• Implement and validate system solutions; test hardware prototypes, emulations, or simulations.
• Advance offloads with Google hardware/software to build/test C++ software for ML Library solutions and Smart NICs.
• Develop next generation AI/ML Networking solutions and Smart NICs from development to production.

• 3 year of experience working with embedded operating systems.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.

US: $174000 - $252000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities:

• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Implement and execute testable system solutions; conduct validation of behavior and suitability of prospective hardware units, prototypes, emulations, or simulations for use in the Google infrastructure.
• Advance new approaches to leverage offloads efficiently with Google hardware and software so you can build and test software in C++ for use on Google's ML Library solutions and Smart NICs.
• Develop next generation AI/ML Networking solutions as well as Smart NICs at Google, taking the projects through development into production.
