Job summary

Boston College is seeking a Physical Security Technician to support the Department of Public Safety’s technology needs across the university. You will work on IP video security, access control, and alarm systems, providing on-site support and troubleshooting to ensure 24x7 operations.

The role requires extensive experience with public safety technology and building security systems, plus strong problem-solving and coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience as an in-field technician with hands-on experience in the troubleshooting, repair, and installation of Public Safety Technology and Building Security Systems.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills, and project planning skills.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for problem resolution.
• Ability to work through problems and find solutions.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with shifting priorities.
• Excellent customer service skills; strong commitment to customer service.
• Excellent coordination, writing, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support, troubleshoot, and maintain physical security equipment for 24x7 operations across the University.
• Provide on-site support for IP Video Security, Access Control, Panic Alarm, and Intrusion Alarm Systems.
• Assist with Public Safety Technology including MDTs, LTE Routers, radios, mass notification, and Smart Campus technologies.
• Read and interpret security floorplans, architectural diagrams, and network diagrams.
• Travel across campus to service and install equipment.
• Coordinate with the Department of Public Safety and Building Security teams.
