Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission seeks a field data collection assistant for a fixed-period project in Wisconsin. The role requires working outdoors in remote field conditions, often at dawn or on weekends, and involves navigating to field sites using GPS.

Responsibilities focus on collecting and maintaining structured data, ensuring accessibility for team colleagues, and complying with safety and licensing requirements. Housing and a field vehicle are provided for the duration.

Formación

• Experience collecting and maintaining field data in an organized, accessible way.
• Availability for the entire period Jan 9–Feb 15, 2027.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and early mornings.
• Able to work alone with little oversight as well as with collaborators from diverse backgrounds.
• Comfortable working in remote field conditions.
• Ability to use GPS to navigate to and within field sites.
• Valid US Driver’s License.
• Preferred: winter field experience.
• Preferred: handling, measuring, and tagging small mammals.
• Preferred: GPS navigation experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Availability for the entire period
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and early mornings.
• Ability to work alone with little oversight as well as to work effectively with collaborators from diverse backgrounds.

• Ability to use GPS to navigate to and within field sites
• Valid US Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working winter conditions
• Previous experience handling, measuring, and tagging small mammals.
• Prior experience navigating using a GPS to navigate to and within field sites.
